Projects

I have big dreams and little dreams about how this project could develop.  Starting small and keeping my own energy around the topic, I am continually gathering information about this topic as well as sketching African Elephants, their habitats, and other aspects of the ivory trade.  While I continue to organize the information, I will be creating posters and memes to keep the conversation going.
In order to tell the story in a more complete way, I want to create a 13-14 piece calendar that fleshes out more of the story on each month’s page. These pages can be printed as a small (but large format zine) but there will only be 14 pages, so it will be quite thin.

The other thing I would love to create (but don't have the ability to now) is an phone app so that people can report illegal ivory sales.  This project would also have to staff people who would then go and investigate and be able to enforce the law in order to call for a stop in this action.  This would take a lot of funding and cooperation with larger organizations, perhaps the police force, coders, and app developers. The reason I want to do this is that I worry about the ROI with awareness-raising images and I want to be involved with directly halting the trade and sale of these items.  This project could be like crowd-funding but crowd-info-collecting. Having many eyes and ears on the ground could be a help.
